After a year of construction, “Noahs Segel” (Noah’s sail), a tourist attraction on the Ellenbogen, a hill in the Rhön district of Thuringia, has now been completed. The 21-metre high tower features a distinctive, sail-like design with an adventure slide and exhibition building. The beginning of August saw it enter into service with an inauguration ceremony. Around 1.2 million euros of funding from the state of Thuringia, the district and municipality was used in the creation of the imposing steel and timber construction. An 84-step climb up nine storeys opens up an incomparable view over the “land of open distances”, with the Brocken mountain, 140 kilometres away, even visible when the weather is good. Visitors can take the steps back down to the ground, but more fun is to be had taking the 12-metre slide that we have constructed. This takes the form of an enclosed tube with portholes; the total length is around 28 metres.
